CHEERS FOR VISAYAS BLOGGING SUMMIT

“Nothing succeeds like success” a phrase that encompass the event last November 26, 2011. This event happened at SM Cebu Trade Hall with some surprises that blowed as away.

The event kickoff with some early bird participants, then it started with an invocation, singing of the Philippine anthem(a program is not a program without it),with a prominent people in the cyberspace, VBS raise the bar from a simple media event to a social media gathering most talk about that it is light years ahead from the rest. All this commotion made VBS a trend with so many people twitted about it, placing it third place in twitter trending list with in Philippine area and lasted for approximately two hours or more.

The thing that interested me most was the part that Globe(one of the sponsors) made cool strategy in their media campaign that became viral even their competitor’s endorser fell for it, and who could forget the ever famous Mr. Chris Ducker who showed some few cool trick on how to get started on monetizing your blog and some tips in making a presentable, friendly blog. Lastly with a surprise visit of Mrs. Regina Paz "Gina" Lopez Managing Director of ABS-CBN who talked about the campaign on “no to mining in Palawan”. This campaign aims to stop the destruction of ecosystem, save lives due to the effects of mining. Her presentation touched the heart of bloggers who attended the event, many of them including us has sign a petition against it and promise to spread the word about it in the hope of stopping the mining in Philippines.

With special visit of Miss Earth Candidates what could you ask for? I mean beautiful Candidates are there,”IMBA” speakers are there, Free lunch, free snacks. It’s like a treat with different flavors, and if you’re not there you should be sorry because you miss half of your blogging life (exaggerated)

Overall the event woke me and inspired me to follow the path of blogging. Together with my fellow mates and some new found friends, I enjoyed the event full of knowledge, idea and some gift packs (which were great by the way) and some unforgettable memory. All though there some ups and downs, it never gave me and idea to give up and all though I had some muscle aches and sore it was worth it, an experience of being a part and helping something big is fulfilling and it makes you want to think that you’re privileged enough to be there. After all “Life is about happiness and tragedy that we must live in”.
